ASHLEY SEARS
FOUNDER / DIRECTOR / PHOTOGRAPHER
Sears has been working full time as a New York based freelance photographer since moving to the city in 2011.
She brings with her a fresh perspective and eclectic range of experience, fusing a background in fine art and photojournalism within her commercial work. Little did she know, her decade of experience in the hospitality industry would evolve into the main focus of her work.
Sears has been known to play many rolls on set outside of photographer, including art director, prop stylist, producer, etc. So it wasn't long before she began Directing. She made her directorial debut with a series of 10 commercial spots for Tabasco in 2018 and has been smitten ever since.
Typically you can find her balancing on top of a ladder/table/roof or car with her camera in one hand, and an iced coffee in the other. If you do - be sure to say hi!
THE BACKSTORY
WHAT'S WITH THE NAME? WHY MONTANA RED?
When Ashley decided to start this business, her accountant asked her
what the name was going to be and she told him,
"honestly, I haven't quite figured that out yet"
To which he replied,
"Just pick two things that describe you and put them together.
But do it quick - I have to file this paperwork"
Being a redhead who spent seven years falling in love
with photography in the mountains of Montana
- the name quickly wrote itself.
